Who we are

We are Pelham’s 1st, FIRST Robotics team.

We are powered by Coopertition: We are a small group of very passionate high school students (9th-12th grade) builders and entrepreneurs that are learning how to build a mobile robot capable of grabbing, moving, and manipulating game pieces in competition.

We love FIRST Robotics: We are excited to play and win on the worlds biggest robotics stage - FIRST robotics competition. We have been learning CAD code and how to build real hardware - spending 10+ hours per week of our time.

We are FERMI powered: Our mentor Scott works at the FERMI Lab/Accelerator and has led teams for 10+ years - we are lucky to have him at Flux Robotics.

We are Pelham: We are proud to represent our community and appreciate everyone’s support!

What we do

We meet as a team 1-2 times per week on weekends in the basement of some team mentors to strategize, plan, design, and build. We also meet in virtual sessions during the week to learn about coding and CAD. Student team members make the decisions, create the robots, benefit from the learning, and are proud of the results. We started as a team of about 10 students in December 2024, and have already doubled to more than 20.

We are getting ready for our first-ever competition in New York City in April 2025. The 2025 FIRST Robotics kickoff video explains the rules of the competition for which we’re getting ready. This year’s “REEFSCAPE” competition offers a lot of ways to score points. As a rookie team, we are focused on creating a robot that does a couple of things very well, rather than trying to do everything.

We plan for the long term. This year we are focused on learning how to build a robot and run a team effectively. In the future, we would like to explore enhanced capabilities from new equipment (like a CNC router), expand our community events and outreach, and set even higher goals, like making it to FRC Worlds.
